The Official 2018 USMF Selection Process



Elite Class (A) Male Selection Criteria: World Championships (Ages 18-40)

• Athlete must be registered as a USMF Athlete

• Athlete must be possess a winning professional record of 5 or more fights

*Returning World Championship Medalist are given exemption



Elite Class (A) Female Selection Criteria:

World Championships (Ages 18-40) • Athlete must be registered as a USMF Athlete • Professional with winning record  OR Amateur with winning record over 10 fights


Amateur Athletes Grading Criteria

• USMF Selection Committee - 50%

• USMF National Rankings - 40%

• Non USMF Approved Event - 10%

Competitive Class (B) Male Selection Criteria:

World Championships (18-40) • Athlete must be registered as a USMF Athlete • Amateur with winning record over 10 fights


Amateur Athletes Grading Criteria

• USMF Selection Committee - 50%

• USMF National Rankings - 40%

• Non USMF Approved Event - 10%


Youth Male and Female Selection Criteria:

World Championships (Ages 10 - 17) • Athlete must be registered as a USMF Athlete • Amateur with winning record over 8  fights


Amateur Athletes Grading Criteria

• USMF Selection Committee - 50%

• USMF National Rankings - 40%

• Non USMF Approved Event - 10%



Selected Athletes


- Athletes that accept a position on the team are under USMF Selection Committee overview and subject to removal until 65 days before Tournament.


- Selected Athletes must report all Combative Sports competition to USMF Selection Committee. EX Muaythai, Kickboxing, MMA, Boxing


- Selected Athletes must sign USMF Athletes Code of Conduct


- Selected Youth Athletes Parents or Chaperons must sign USMF Accompany Code of Conduct
